Black girls, I feel, rock, in so many ways, especially coming from five girls.

When I was growing up, my mother taught me and my sisters to celebrate each other - there was no room in our household for negativity. She taught us to embrace each other, and this was empowering for us. She also taught us the value of celebrating our differences.

The most beautiful things are not associated with money; they are memories and moments. If you don't celebrate those, they can pass you by.

Education is the key to the future.

My parents were active in the anti-war movement in the 1960s, so I grew up with a tradition of civic activism around our dinner table and going to different marches for different causes.

Each one has to find his peace from within. And peace to be real must be unaffected by outside circumstances.

World War II was a historical event, but also a movie genre, and 'Fury' occasionally prints the legend. The rest of it is plenty grim and grisly. Audience members may feel like prisoners of war forced to watch a training-torture film.

I think it's very important to have a sense of balance in covering the war, but you don't have to be morally neutral about terrorism.
