Instead of looking at the past, I put myself ahead twenty years and try to look at what I need to do now in order to get there then.

I was looking at making a shift in my career. I've been so blessed I'd like to be able to give that back. If I could find young artists, young performers I can nurture to have a career I would really like that.

I just appreciate still having the longevity that I've had in my career.

My children come first and the career comes in around that.

Being a Barrymore didn't help me, other than giving me a great sense of pride and a strange spiritual sense that I felt OK about having the passion to act. It made sense because my whole family had done it and it helped rationalise it for me.

I'm very much a family person.

I am happy with my family and my colleagues and want to continue making my own kind of cinema. I have never belonged to any camp and have no friends in the industry. Most of them will pay lip service, but when it comes to doing, they tend to shy away.

I was the oldest of five children, each about a year apart, and my mother, bless her heart, had her hands full.
