Historically, I come from Jewish history. I had the classic upbringing in the Yeshiva, learning, learning, and more learning.

Words can sometimes, in moments of grace, attain the quality of deeds.

Most people think that shadows follow, precede or surround beings or objects. The truth is that they also surround words, ideas, desires, deeds, impulses and memories.

It used to be said that when the Baal Shem Tov came into a town, his impact was so strong, he didn't have to speak. His disciples had to dance or to sing or to preach to have the same effect. I think a real messenger, myself or anyone, by the very fact that he is there as a person, as a symbol, could have the same impact.

Life is about making choices, seeing those choices through, and living through consequences.

Music is life. Music defines peoples' experience on this planet. Name one time in your life that wasn't punctuated by the music you listened to at the time. When people are down, they listen to music that commiserates that emotion. When people are amped up, they listen to more upbeat, loud songs.

I think my initial view of it is that 'The Room' has succeeded in being the best bad movie because it's the most earnest. I feel like it's a film that comes from the heart, and somebody's really trying to send a message about their life and their view on the human experience.

I don't like characters who are either good or bad. I just don't experience that in life, so my writing hasn't evolved that way.
