I think there is a lot of good in making the All-Star Team. People look at your career a little bit differently.

I'm just happy to be sitting right here in Chicago and right here at U.S. Cellular Field, holding my Hall of Fame press conference. I'm proud of that.

Doing something the right way is something I take pride in.

A Home Run Derby is fun. It's just like taking batting practice, and you just want to go deep. Guys do it every day. Yes, there's a little more pressure when they pull that cage back, but if you practice properly, it shouldn't affect the second half of your season at all.

I'm always surprised that I get called to work. I always feel the way I felt when I was 24 or 25 trying to get a job. I'm amazed I have my SAG card and my Equity card.

You'd never plan a career like I've had.

The ideal would be to have a career like Meryl Streep's or Kate Winslet's. It's just unbelievable how they manage to make such incredible choices one after the other. If you could have a career anything like that, then that would be a great thing.

Writing is hard. It takes commitment and determination and a good part talent. It's not an afterthought, an addendum - it's a career.
