Every episode of 'The Conversation' was created to be a platform for women, to connect women, and to allow women's voices to be heard as much as possible. That's why I launched that show on a television network and online simultaneously.

Female friendships have sustained me from my earliest days as a child.

Some people would say having a feminist perspective is political, but I don't think it is. I think it's just having a female perspective.

I'm passionate about women's issues, and there are no outlets for that on TV, so I wanted to create one.

Drama is what I'm really obsessed by. It's what gets me up in the morning, what I live for. But I'll always have a love for comedy because it was my first opportunity, and I associate it with my best friends, who I made during 'School of Comedy'.

It proved to me, though, that comedy is so much harder.

In many ways, the South can be very traditional and confining. And what is interesting to me is how women find their way around it. Those obstacles create an amazing sense of humor, of fun, and, ultimately, of integrity. The fiercest and savviest women I have ever known are the women I grew up with.

In conversation, humor is worth more than wit and easiness more than knowledge.
