My musical influences growing up were limited to Korean folk songs and hymns as I went to a Christian boarding school where I was not allowed to listen to secular music.

I learned to sing as I was learning to talk.

I grew up learning martial arts in Korea; my dad actually brought in an Olympic instructor to teach me as a teenager.

It's so astounding the amount of sacrifice the astronauts have to go through to do what they do and all the science involved in space exploration.

I often think about how my sons will come to know about September 11th. Something overheard? A newspaper image? In school? I would prefer that they learn about it from my wife and me, in a deliberate and safe way. But it's hard to imagine ever feeling ready to broach the subject without some impetus.

I had 13 weeks off and I would pack up the family and drive to some mountain retreat where we could be together and fish all day. I loved it. I needed it.
