The abduction of a child is a tragedy. No one can fully understand or appreciate what a parent goes through at such a time, unless they have faced a similar tragedy. Every parent responds differently. Each parent copes with this nightmare in the best way he or she knows how.

One missing child is one too many.

Adam's abduction was our private hell - but it was not an isolated incident. On any given day, any number of children are absent from their homes for diverse and numerous reasons.

Home is where children find safety and security, where we find our identities, where citizenship starts. It usually starts with believing you're part of a community, and that is essential to having a stable home.

That's what I learned most about directing on my own - you've got to build a family, a filmmaking family.

When you're happy, and you're smiling people don't like that. That's why I smile all the time.

I feel that certain things are best kept inside a family and not discussed with anyone else.
