I don't feel like my films are about gender; they are about identity - but a different slant on identity.

The audience changes every night. You're the same person. You have to speak your mind and do the stuff that you think is funny and makes you laugh.

People think that, when you're doing comedy, nothing means anything, that people run around and act crazy. It's quite the opposite. The stakes are life-and-death.

In some sense, Comedy Central has made their audience into comedy connoisseurs.
