Growing up, I didn't feel cool; I didn't fit into any crowd.

I always felt like I was a freak when I was growing up and that there was something wrong with me because I couldn't fit in anywhere.

I'm always looking for something new: a new inspiration, a new philosophy, a new way to look at something, new talent.

On the one hand, the idea of marriage and the sort of traditional family life repulses me. But on the other hand, I long for it, you know what I mean? I'm constantly in conflict with things. And it is because of my past and my upbringing and the journey that I've been on.

Of course I would recommend marriage to others. Times are changing, even in the past people had kids without getting married but marriage gives stability to your family and people around you. It's a working institution and it can fail in certain situations.

It was quite jarring to go from newspapers to magazines, and the reason I did it was because I had my second son, and with my second child, I just thought, 'I can't travel at will,' which you really need to be able to do. And so I had a sort of slow realization that I could no longer do the job that I loved.

I had no acting background in my family and no experience of theatre. I hadn't even been in a school play.

Parents tend to value their lives more highly than people without kids, but they're different in lots of ways: They're richer. They're better educated. They're healthier.
