I got my first professional job at Harvard, at the Loeb Drama Center, and I remember sitting on campus one day under a tree - I was doing 'Threepenny Opera.' I was reading a book, and the light caught me, and I thought, 'I want to be in the movies.'

When you're with a bunch of loud 20-year-olds, if you're on a movie and everybody is a lot younger than you and they want you to go to a club, I'm not very comfortable in that situation. I've been on movies when everybody goes out to some loud place. I don't know; I'm not comfortable.

Does anybody like being recognized? I understand that it's my job. I'm grateful about people who are moved enough by the work to want to say something. But I mourn the loss of anonymity.

When you snatch little pieces of other people's lives and try to palm them off as your own, that's more disgusting than anything. Robin Williams is a huge thief. Denis Leary is a huge thief. His whole stand-up career is based on Bill Hicks, a brilliant guy who died years ago.

I always knew that I wanted to be an actor. I made my debut on stage when I was 12, and I was sure that this is what made me happy. However, nobody takes a 12-year-old's career choice seriously. Everybody laughed it off. I also ran away from it, but acting eventually found me.
