There are directors who, their direction is high, but then when you challenge it, it crumbles. They can't back up what they're asking.

A kid now can practically record a song or edit a short film on his way to school. I think that will produce, perhaps, more less-interesting things - or you'll have to search more to find the interesting things. But I also think it's exciting.

All directors are different. Certainly, the directors that I respond to the most are guys that figure it out by doing it, not by thinking or studying. Also, the kind of actor that I think I am - I learned about theater doing theater, not studying theater. I think that traditional school can be great, but also it can stifle original thought.

Different films have different places in people's lives. I don't get to see a lot of films, so I want to watch films I learn from.

I didn't grow up in a traditional family, and I never had a family dinner around the table, so whenever I actually had a dinner 'plan,' it meant a lot to me; it made me feel excited and safe.

I think when things get hard with your family, it's really easy to want to isolate yourself. The world is so harsh, so when stuff happens outside, you want to go to your family, but when stuff happens inside your family, you sort of start to feel like, 'I'm alone. There is no place I can go to where just nothing will happen to me.'

I have spent a very long time in Cate's shadow - she casts a pretty big one. I have always had the support of my family and coach, and they have always stressed we are completely different people and will achieve things in our own time. They stressed I would get my moment. I just had to be patient.

When I look back, I did what I had to do for business and then fit family life into it.
