Throughout my Enterprise career, I have been primarily operationally focused.

When I started in California, people would say, 'Enterprise who?'

For me to be as effective as possible, I intend to sharpen those skills I need to successfully lead an organization that is growing in size and complexity with each passing year.

It has been most rewarding to work in St. Louis, California, and New York and watch the people there grow and be promoted and go off to other opportunities and positions of responsibility.

I have definitely had times in my career where I have wondered whether I have had to work a bit harder, prove myself more, but I would never want to be in a position where I am saying, 'Oh, I did not get that job because of my race.'

My venture investing career has three phases, all roughly 6-8 years long. The first, at Euclid, was software to Internet. The second, at Flatiron, was Internet to bubble. And the third, at USV, has been web 2 to mobile. I have always used a new firm to denote a new investment phase for me. Throw away the old. Start with the new.

I know certainly, when one job draws to a close, that I feel I'm simply never going to work again. No one will ever want me for anything ever again. I think that's a vulnerable moment in every actor's life, and it happens every time you finish a film.

It's a fun job, but actors are like vagabonds and must go where the work is.
