I think most of my tastes were British, as far as comedy went, when I was growing up.

I think the longer a sitcom is on the air, by necessity, the dumber the characters have to get: otherwise, they would be learning and growing, and they won't be funny, so they have to get more and more extremely whatever they are.

New York has surprised me a couple of times. I was a snob about pizza, but I've found one or two places that allow me to forget deep dish for a while.

Most sitcoms and cartoons, especially, you can rely on, because they go back to square one at the beginning of every episode.

For me, funny is funny, and what's unfortunate is these comedians aren't being allowed to operate in rooms for everybody and that everybody can laugh and say, 'Okay, I find that person funny, and I don't just have to find them funny because they look like me.'

I think the most important thing about learning comedy is to start from who you are. If you begin the process by imitating what you perceive to be a comedy rhythm, you will get laughs sooner, but you will not be unique.

Plus, I love comic writing. Nothing satisfies me more than finding a funny way to phrase something.

By the way, I'm funniest when I'm not being funny. I'm better to laugh at than with, pretty much.
