Growing up in Middlesbrough I was taught to be resilient and competitive. My teachers made us believe that just because kids were at private school up the road, it didn't mean they were better than us.

I remember early in my career people telling me I needed to change my accent, that I needed to sound more professional, more BBC perhaps, but I think if I wasn't from Middlesbrough I wouldn't have done as well as I have.

I always felt I had to prove my intelligence.

There are a lot of women who do a similar job to me who are paid a hell of a lot more... who are a lot posher than me.

Simplifying' the tax code is a priority mainly for people who make enough money to want to avoid paying taxes, and who make their money by means unorthodox enough to make avoiding taxes possible and desirable.

If someone is poor in India, they should be able to watch the same films as rich people.

With this job people want so much from you and of course I understand, but if you don't keep that back, then what have you got left? If you auction off parts of your life you are left with nothing but a bag of money and no soul.

All business is basically about customers and marketing and making money and capitalism and winning and promoting it and having something someone really wants.
