I've always been a rule-follower. Even when I was a kid, I tried to do everything by the book.

Country music is just country. It's going to shift around a little bit, doing some different instrumentations, different production styles. But it will always come back to what you heard at the Opry. Nobody wants it to change.

I enjoy being on stage with other artists. I have a chance to watch and see people responding to the other artists songs. I get to see how people are affected by the music.

Success breeds volume, and it's just amazing how many young writers, artists, and musicians there are in town.

I'd love to tackle a classic Shakespeare play or take on Nora Helmer in 'A Doll's House.' Musical theater, it's the classics like Rodgers and Hammerstein and Cole Porter's 'Kiss Me Kate.' I'm much more a Julie Andrews-type soprano than an Idina Menzel.

It's not marriage that I crave. Many of my friends who have married are pretty miserable. Within a year and a half, most of them are either unhappy or divorced.

I have noticed a difference in myself spiritually. I have had a better relationship with my wife and kids. It's because I am putting the gospel first. I just wish it hadn't taken me so long to realize it.

My family is a little ridiculous. They're wild - really colorful and animated and big personalities.
