This is a new year. A new beginning. And things will change.

I still have mixed feelings about what growing up is - this thing that happens to everyone, so I've heard.

When I was growing up in Pennsylvania, auditioning for Broadway was my dream.

You know, real life doesn't just suddenly resolve itself. You have to keep working at it. Democracy, marriage, friendship. You can't just say, 'She's my best friend.' That's not a given, it's a process.

I'm just playing songs for my friends and for people, and they're just like, 'Wow, this is powerful.' I'm excited. It's also important that, in the record, I move the focus a little bit away from me to more about the things that I think about, communities like drag, gender expression, and friendship-concepts that go beyond me.

I started to work when I was really young. For me, friendship is work, and work is friendship. Those who are next to me and that have been there for a long time are those who can work with me, play football with me, and go watch a film with me.

I joined Bloomberg Television as an anchor in 2011 after spending fourteen years on Wall Street. In many ways, the industries are similar: it's about relationship-building, trust, and problem solving.
