Even though I retired from coaching, I still believe that is my calling.

People that are brilliant and successful, we think they've just always been that way. That's not the case. Most of them have had some tough adversity in their life. It's prepared them. I've never felt like you could develop character without adversity.

The heck with political correctness. I've never believed in it.

I won't miss coaching. What you miss is that camaraderie with those boys and the other coaches. You miss that.

What's wrong with being a two-sport athlete? You've got Deion Sanders. You've got Bo Jackson. You've got Michael Jordan; he wasn't a very good baseball player. There's nothing wrong with crossing over.

You look at the sports pages and you'd often be forgiven for thinking women didn't do sport.

It's not good if owners of sports teams are talking to sports journalists, bypassing the manager. That goes in the wrong direction wherever it happens. Therefore, I'll refrain from doing this at all.

I had the freedom to choose my career. I had the opportunity to choose a career in sports. It's what I'm most passionate about. It's what I love.
